Learn How to fully prepare for your breastfeeding journey
Once you register for the class, you have immediate access to:
- Audio Lessons
- Videos
- Educational handouts
- Helpful checklists
- Our “members only” group
- Weekly group LIVE Q&A sessions
you’ll learn all about:
- Using your pregnancy time to prepare your home, heart and mind for newborn breastfeeding
Preparing to breastfeed is far more than learning how to latch a baby on. I teach you some amazing ways to prepare for the long nights and days of new parenthood. You will learn specific ways to avoid new mommy meltdowns because of lack of sleep, lack of help around the house and not being fully prepared about what life with a newborn is like. I give you specific action plans for preparing your household as well as ways to help cope with the stress of new motherhood.
- Exactly what to expect the very first 24 hours after birth
Did you know that how your baby behaves as far as sleeping and eating in the first 24 hours is very different than the next day? Babies tend to be sleepy the first day, not eat as frequently, and need to be kept close to you and be kept warm. You will learn about the importance of skin to skin and my version of “babymooning.” Things are different after the first day and you will learn all the important details so you will be confident the first 24 hours after birth.
-
- Exactly what to expect the first two weeks after birth.
The first two weeks are quite different than the next several months. It is common for babies to lose some weight the first few days. Learn what is normal weight loss. You and your baby are learning how to breastfeed together and knowing what normal weight gain and normal output is, can be crucial to your long term breastfeeding relationship. When you understand all the details about how to tell when your baby is hungry and full, you are a more relaxed parent. Every student who takes this class will have a clear understanding of how to tell when breastfeeding is going well. You will also clearly learn how to tell when breastfeeding is not going well and when to get help. Learn what your baby’s pediatrician knows so you can be a partner in your babies health care.
- What you can expect over the next few months
After the first 2 weeks – than what? Do things stay the same? Absolutely not! Should you always offer just one side – or both for every feeding? What should you do when you are told to only keep your baby on one side for just 15 minutes? Is this good advice? Absolutely not! I bust the most common breastfeeding myths and teach you how to rely on your intuition. My goal is to share all the lovely details so that every single day you gain more confidence in breastfeeding. What you don’t know or don’t understand – no worries. Remember, that you will be able to ask me questions as part of a member of our student group. Taking this even further, it is my goal that no mother should be without support. Once a week LIVE virtual calls give you an opportunity to meet with other students and ask your most pressing questions. You will not be left alone!
- Postpartum Life
Gradually you are adjusting to your postpartum life and being a breastfeeding mom. It is estimated that over 80% of new parents experience some form of postpartum mood disorder. This topic is often either not discussed in breastfeeding class or it gets a very quick mention. I take this subject very seriously. I devote one whole module on this subject alone. You will hear other moms talk about their experiences and how and where they found help. This part of the class goes deeper into what to expect when breastfeeding a baby who is a few weeks to 6 months old. There is so much to talk about – pumping, storing, returning to work. Preferred way to bottlefeed a breastfed baby. We get into teething and nursing strike and how stress can affect your supply. These are just a few of the topics we cover here.
- Partners need knowledge and support also
I don’t know why, however, most classes barely mention the partner and their role. Partners can help by keeping you well watered and well fed. They can change and bathe and soothe a baby. This is what is typically talked about. I have a different take on this. There is so much more than being a “helper.” What can your partner be doing before you even have your baby to help with breastfeeding? You will learn this and much more!
- Breastfeeding up to one year and beyond
Oh my goodness, I love talking about your breastfeeding life with a baby 12 months and older. Society seems to forget or just not realize that moms need support throughout their breastfeeding journey and not just the first few months. How do you deal with close family and friends who do not agree with you breastfeeding past 1 year? Could they be right that your milk has no more nutrition? Absolutely not! How much nourishment does your milk really provide for your older baby? LOTS! Breastfeeding a toddler comes with a lot of breastfeeding antics. Come and learn all about this stage and continue to feel confident with all the knowledge you will gain.
- Snippets –
I have mentioned just snippets of what you will find in this class. It is amazing how much there is to learn about breastfeeding and I want to share all my knowledge with you. Thank goodness this class is given in easy to learn and short segments at a time. Thank goodness you don’t need to take it all at once. Thank goodness you can pick and choose which parts are appropriate for you OR you can listen to this audio course from beginning to end. The choice is yours! I very much look forward to meeting you in our private group and cannot wait to see you and your baby in our Virtual Live Meetings!
Over 25 years of teaching breastfeeding has enabled me to fine tune my audio course. The information is not only what I think you need to know, I also include what other parents tell me they wish they would have known…..Lori

Everything that Lori taught me during our initial lactation consult is exactly what I realized I should have learned in a breastfeeding class. As a Physician Assistant, I just expected breastfeeding to come naturally and figured whatever challenges I encountered, I had books to help me figure it out. I am glad for Lori’s expertise after my son was born, but surely wished I would have taken her class beforehand.
Talia Lavor PA
I was feeling quite overwhelmed with my “to do” list. after taking Lori’s breastfeeding class, I now feel ready for breastfeeding my baby. My partner even notices how much calmer I am now that I have implemented many of the suggestions made in this course. Lori taught me that preparing for breastfeeding is just as important as learning how to breastfeed Thank you Lori

Lori is very knowledgeable. Her breastfeeding expertise has certainly helped me prepare for what life will be like the first few months of breastfeeding. Her class is power packed with great ideas and gave me a heads up about things I never would have even thought of. Her checklists really helped me get organized. I loved learning about the most common breastfeeding challenges and how to prevent them.

Frequently asked questions from our customers
When should I take this class?
I would love for you to take full advantage of all this course has to offer. I would love for you to be able to take your time and learn in a leisurely fashion. Taking this in your last trimester is optimal. However, you will still learn so much even if your baby is born OR you are in the first few months to first year postpartum.
Why do I need a breastfeeding class?
Unless you have breastfed before or grew up around other breastfeeding families there is so much to learn about breastfeeding. Current statistics from the CDC state that 85% of new mothers initiate breastfeeding. Unfortunately less than half are breastfeeding at 6 months. The reason? Most mothers say lack of knowledge, education and support in the early days of breastfeeding.
This is where this class shines. You will have a good understanding of what to expect, have access to our private group for students only. I take my role as your breastfeeding educator very seriously and go the extra mile in proving you support. You will not be left alone with lots of questions and no one to answer them after you finish this class. I look forward to meeting you once a week in our LIVE Virtual meeting. I will be there… answering your most pressing questions.
Can I get one-on-one help with breastfeeding?
Not only can you ask questions and get advice, support and feedback any time from within our community, from myself and other members, but I also run twice a month live Q & A sessions, where you can pre-submit your questions or even ask them live. This benefit alone is worth more than the audio class!
For the students who prefer a private appointment, I also offer lactation consultations where I will meet with you virtually. As a student of this class, you will be given a link to schedule your consult. All students are offered a 25% discount on your virtual lactation consult.
Does my insurance cover breastfeeding classes?
Easy answer – I don’t know about your individual insurance company. However, more insurance companies are recognizing the benefits of parents being well informed about breastfeeding and are covering classes. Once we receive payment for this class, you will receive a paid receipt to submit to your insurance company. You can also use your Health Spending Account (HSA) to cover the cost.
Why not just take a breastfeeding class locally?
Because, because, because…. I have personally taught over 500 breastfeeding classes locally. There is no way that I could cover all this information in those classes. Once the class was over, my students could not hear the information again and again. No access for when they really needed it – after their baby was born. It is nice to be able to look up a topic and refresh your memory.
Being connected with me, an experienced IBCLC is literally worth the cost of this course alone. I never offered to stay connected with my students afterwards via a private online forum or Live virtual meetings. Ask several breastfeeding moms what their class covered and if they had easy, regular access to their teacher for a full year. Unlikely, unless they were a good friend.
